A packaging equipment company was designing a new shrink wrapping machine and decided to include a partner for the design of the thermal system. Tutco Farnam was there to help them improve their product.

Shrink Wrapping Heat System

The customer needed an entirely new thermal system for their shrink wrapping machine.

They were replacing an inefficient tubular element which required an excessive amount of power.

They wanted higher performance, improved reliability and lower cost.

 

Solutions and Their Impact

  • The completed system included a heater with a replaceable element, a blower, a thermocouple and an insulated housing that can be cleaned easily.
  • We developed internal baffles that give the system a uniform temperature and flow profile shrinking films quickly and precisely.
  • Our heater has twice the life span of the tubular heater it replaced and uses less power resulting in a 30% reduction in cost and a 33% increase in productivity.
