Heat Torches

Tutco-Farnam has been manufacturing high quality inline heaters for over two decades. Tens of thousands of these devices have been built for many Fortune 1000 companies on a custom order basis. Based on this experience and increased demand, we created a family of Heat Torch™ process heaters which can be modularly assembled from a set of components to provide the best of both standardization and flexibility.

Farnam Heat Torch™ inline air heaters are ideal for rapidly heating air. Industrial strength open coil heaters provide efficient heat transfer through direct heating element contact with the airflow. Rapid heater response time enables precise output temperature control when these heaters are paired with off the shelf sensors and controllers. Robust design, high quality materials and workmanship provide long life and performance margin.

Our highly efficient Cool Touch™ option minimizes the skin temperature of the heater and helps protect people and product from hot surfaces. This very efficient design reduces heat loss. The large thermal storage capacity is particularly useful if you have an application requiring intermittent use and rapid response. This Cool Touch™ option is available for many of our Heat Torch sizes.

 

Heat Torch™ 030
 
  • The Heat Torch™ 030 is ideal for concentrating hot air streams into small areas with negligible heat losses.
  • This 0.34" diameter air heater is our smallest standard Heat Torch™ delivering greater precision with focused air stream. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally. (Horizontal mounting is preferred at high temperatures.)
  • Heat Torch™ 030 operates best with air flow in the range of .3 SCFM to 1.0 SCFM and power options up to 300 watts [in either 120V or 240V supply]. Maximum recommended exhaust temperature is 1300°F (704°C).
  • Applications for the Heat Torch™ 030 include melting, cutting, adhesive activation, de-soldering, heat staking, and sterilization.

Heat Torch™ 038

  • The Heat Torch™ 050 Air Heater has allowable air flow ranging from 1 to 10 SCFM and is available in power ratings of 100 watts to 500 watts (with standard increments of 50 watts). Maximum air input temperature is 250°F (121°C) with 1300°F (704°C) maximum output.
  • Applications for Heat Torch™ 050 include staking, curing, drying, heat shrinking, sterilization, and adhesive activation.

  • Our Heat Torch™ 075 is a 0.75" diameter compact air heater providing moderate amounts of focused air. Heat Torch™ 075 offers over twice the air flow capacity of the Heat Torch™ 050. The Heat Torch™ 075 can be mounted in either a horizontal or vertical position and includes several inlet and exhaust fittings options.
  • Heat Torch™ 075 will meet requirements for air flow ranging from 1.3 to 25 SCFM with power of 100 watts to 1000 watts [in 100 watts increments].
  • Maximum air input temperature is 250° F (121° C) with 1300° F (704° C) maximum output temperature.
  • Applications for Heat Torch™ 075 include staking, curing, drying, heat shrinking, sterilization, and adhesive activation.

Heat Torch™ 150
 
  • The Heat Torch™ 150 heating element is contained in a 1 1/2" diameter stainless steel pipe.
  • The Heat Torch™ 150 comes in two sizes. The 4.7" long heater body accommodates ratings from 500 to 2500 watts [with standard power increments of 250 watts]. The 8.3" long heater body handles ratings of 2750 to 5000 watts [with standard power increments of 500 watts].
  • Heat Torch™ 150 has allowable air flow ranging from 4.8 to 70 SCFM. Maximum air input temperature is 250°F (121°C) with 1300°F (704°C) maximum output temperature. Standard inlet fitting is 1/2" NPT female. Standard outlet fittings include 1/4", 1/2", and 1" female NPT fittings or no exhaust fitting.
  • Heat Torch™ 150 is designed for high reliability, long life, and substantial air flow. Applications include staking, curing, drying, heat-shrinking, sterilization, adhesive activation, air scrubbing, and air knives.

Heat Torch™ 200
 
  • The Heat Torch™ 200 is engineered to satisfy the most demanding requirements. It is contained in a 2" diameter stainless steel pipe and is available in three sizes. The 5" long heater body is for power ratings from 1000 to 4250 watts [with power increments of 250 watts]. The 9" long is for power ratings of 4500 to 8500 watts [with standard power increments of 500 watts]. The 13" long heater is for power ratings from 9000 to 12000 watts [with standard power increments of 1000 watts].
  • The Heat Torch™ 200 has an allowable air flow ranging from 9.6 to 100 SCFM. Maximum air input temperature is 250°F (121°C) with 1300°F (704°C) the maximum output temperature. Standard inlet fitting is a 1" NPT female. Standard outlets are 1 1/4" female NPT fitting or no exhaust fitting.
  • This Heat Torch™ 200 service applications include high capacity staking, curing, drying, heat-shrinking, sterilization, adhesive activation, air scrubbing, and air knives.
