We develop and manufacture innovative custom heater solutions for clients who want to improve their product's performance, reliability and cost.

Farnam specializes in Air Heaters and has the greatest range of electric air heating platforms and designs. Every air heater is designed to maximize convection efficiency. From 50 watts to 100,000 watts we provide the greatest range of solutions all tailored for maximum benefit for each specific application.

By learning about your application we can develop heaters that will be optimal for your system. Our cost-effective custom heater solutions are tailored to deliver maximum advantages for each specific application.

Our custom products help create a competitive advantage for our clients. The following examples of our custom air heaters suggest the wide range of solutions we offer.

1. A miniature heat torch mounted on circuit board. This had to fit a 1" space and focus hot air precisely to help blow mold pouches on blood analyzer. Heats air from ambient to 390F in 3.5 seconds. Contains a built-in thermocouple.

2. A food-service cooker. This heater was designed to fit a narrow slot for maximum heat transfer and minimal product size. Circuits are canted to turbulate the air for maximum efficiency. Cuts cooking time by 40% and browns product too. Passes 2500 volt hi-pot at 1000F.

3. A small 0.187" diameter heater for assembly into zero clearance probe in a scientific instrument. Precision heating of gas stream was critical. A custom RTD was designed into this small package. The heater interfaced with an air tight seal.

4. A 15kw convection heater for food-service rethermalization cart. Designed for ruggedness and to evenly bring 60 lbs. of frozen meals to 140F in 20 minutes.

5. A circuit board mounted heater for a medical application. There was "no space" for a heater and the discharge temperatures had to be thoroughly mixed and even. The heater was designed to fit into the scroll of a blower. The application required an aerodynamicly low profiled heater so that the performance of the blower was not affected.

6. A very-efficient, low-mass heater for tubes and round ducts. These are offered in a large range of sizes, providing fast heat response and a low pressure drop.

7. Low mass, highly efficient, single or three phase heaters supplied in tubes with optional over-temperature protectors.

8. Custom duct heaters. These are rugged, low mass and very low pressure drop heaters. Since the circuits are supported and exposed directly to the air flow, they are very efficient and long-lasting products.

9. We designed a heater with an integrated Venturi plate that mounted directly to a blower housing. Our client needed well-mixed warm air, but had a temperature-sensitive material near the exhaust. So, we designed the heater to nest into the impeller for maximum efficiency and temperature consistency. The heater over-temperature device was configured to stop the blower motor in a fault condition.
